Meeting your driver at Cancun Airport
- Clear immigration and customs (e-gates in Terminals 3 and 4 issue a digital tourist card for eligible e-passports).
- Walk straight through the exit hall. Staff inside offering “free” transport or tours are mostly timeshare sellers – you do not need to stop.
- Outside the terminal, look for your driver or representative holding a sign with your name. Your confirmation email has the exact meeting point.
Flights land at Terminal 2, Terminal 3 or Terminal 4 depending on the airline – see the airline directory or check the live arrivals board. Drivers track your flight, so a delay is not a problem.
Other ways to get there
- ADO bus – direct buses from the airport terminals to the ADO station in Tulum town, roughly every 1–2 hours, about 2 hours or more. Beach hotels need a taxi from the station. See the ADO bus guide.
- Tren Maya – trains from the airport station to Tulum station, outside town, so a taxi is needed at the end. The Tren Maya station is next to the airport but not walkable: take the station shuttle bus from your terminal (small fare). Trains are not hourly, so check the timetable and buy your ticket on the official Tren Maya website before you rely on it.
- Airport taxi or shared shuttle – sold at the official counters inside each terminal. Fares are set by zone and are usually higher than a pre-booked private transfer, and shared vans stop at several hotels.
- Rental car – rental desks and shuttles to off-site lots at every terminal; see car rental at Cancun Airport.
About Tulum
Tulum has three parts: the town (pueblo) on the highway, the beach hotel zone along the coast road, and the cliff-top Maya ruins. Traffic on the beach road can be slow, so allow extra time if you are staying there. More in the Tulum guide.
