Meeting your driver at Cancun Airport
- Clear immigration and customs (e-gates in Terminals 3 and 4 issue a digital tourist card for eligible e-passports).
- Walk straight through the exit hall. Staff inside offering “free” transport or tours are mostly timeshare sellers – you do not need to stop.
- Outside the terminal, look for your driver or representative holding a sign with your name. Your confirmation email has the exact meeting point.
Flights land at Terminal 2, Terminal 3 or Terminal 4 depending on the airline – see the airline directory or check the live arrivals board. Drivers track your flight, so a delay is not a problem.
Other ways to get there
- ADO bus – the cheapest option: buses leave from each terminal to the ADO bus station on Avenida Tulum. From there you can walk or take a short taxi to your hotel. See the ADO bus guide.
- Airport taxi or shared shuttle – sold at the official counters inside each terminal. Fares are set by zone and are usually higher than a pre-booked private transfer, and shared vans stop at several hotels.
- Rental car – rental desks and shuttles to off-site lots at every terminal; see car rental at Cancun Airport.
About Downtown Cancun
Staying downtown is cheaper than the Hotel Zone and puts you close to everyday Cancun: taco stands, markets and the ferry piers at Puerto Juárez for Isla Mujeres. City buses (R-1, R-2) connect downtown with the beaches of the Hotel Zone in about 20–30 minutes. Read more in the Downtown Cancun guide.
