Meeting your driver at Cancun Airport
- Clear immigration and customs (e-gates in Terminals 3 and 4 issue a digital tourist card for eligible e-passports).
- Walk straight through the exit hall. Staff inside offering “free” transport or tours are mostly timeshare sellers – you do not need to stop.
- Outside the terminal, look for your driver or representative holding a sign with your name. Your confirmation email has the exact meeting point.
Flights land at Terminal 2, Terminal 3 or Terminal 4 depending on the airline – see the airline directory or check the live arrivals board. Drivers track your flight, so a delay is not a problem.
Other ways to get there
- ADO bus – only a few buses a day run from the airport to Valladolid (about 2 h 45 min). Most travelers take an ADO bus from the airport to the Cancun downtown terminal (every 30–45 minutes) and change there; buses to Valladolid take about 2 h 15 min to 2 h 30 min. See the ADO bus guide.
- Tren Maya – trains from the Cancun Airport station reach Valladolid in about 1 hour 35 minutes, with only a few departures a day. The airport station is reached by shuttle bus from the terminals, and Valladolid station is on the edge of town, so you need a taxi at both ends. Check the timetable and fares on the official Tren Maya website.
- Rental car – the 180D toll highway is fast and straightforward; keep cash for the toll booths. See car rental at Cancun Airport.
About Valladolid
Valladolid is a colonial town with a walkable center, a cenote a few blocks from the main square and boutique hotels along Calzada de los Frailes. Chichén Itzá is 43 km away and Ek Balam 30 km, so many visitors stay a night or two to see them early. More in the Valladolid guide and the list of Valladolid hotels.
