Cancun International Airport is heading into the 2026–2027 winter travel season with an expanded network of connections linking the Mexican Caribbean with more cities in Canada, the United States and Mexico. The latest additions and returning seasonal services give travelers more options for reaching Cancun and reinforce the airport’s role as one of Mexico’s most important international gateways.
On September 26, the Government of Quintana Roo announced a group of new and returning routes for the winter season. The schedule includes additional Canadian service, new Breeze Airways connections from the United States and new domestic links that make it easier to combine Cancun with other Mexican destinations.
New international connections to Cancun
Canada remains one of the Mexican Caribbean’s most important international markets, and the winter schedule will add more options for Canadian travelers. Porter Airlines is scheduled to begin service between Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Cancun on December 18, with three weekly flights. One day later, Air Transat is scheduled to launch Windsor–Cancun service with one weekly frequency.
The United States will also gain additional nonstop access. Breeze Airways is scheduled to begin Tampa–Cancun service on December 19 with two flights per week. In January 2027, Breeze is expected to add Pittsburgh–Cancun from January 7 with three weekly frequencies and Richmond–Cancun from January 8 with two weekly flights.
These routes are particularly interesting because they add nonstop options beyond some of the traditional large U.S. gateways. Breeze’s own booking platform is already displaying Cancun service from destinations including Tampa, Pittsburgh and Richmond, giving winter travelers additional ways to reach the Caribbean without routing through another major hub.
Canadian winter routes return
The winter expansion is not limited to brand-new service. Several seasonal Canadian connections are returning as demand increases during the colder months.
- Calgary–Cancun with Air Canada: returning December 11 with four weekly flights.
- Fredericton–Cancun with Air Transat: returning December 16 with one weekly flight.
- Edmonton–Cancun with Flair Airlines: returning December 16 with three weekly flights.
- Montreal–Cancun with Flair Airlines: returning December 16 with three weekly flights.
- Calgary–Cancun with Flair Airlines: returning December 17 with four weekly flights.
For Canadian visitors, these seasonal services can make a Cancun vacation considerably simpler by increasing the number of direct options available during one of the destination’s busiest periods.
More ways to combine Cancun with Mexico
Domestic connectivity is growing as well. Viva Aerobus is scheduled to connect Acapulco and Cancun beginning November 3 with two weekly frequencies. Volaris will also connect Cancun with Los Cabos beginning in December, with three flights per week.

What expanded connectivity means for Cancun tourism
Air connectivity is one of Cancun’s biggest strengths as a destination. More nonstop routes can reduce travel time, make shorter vacations more practical and open the Mexican Caribbean to travelers who previously needed a connecting flight.
The benefits also extend well beyond Cancun’s Hotel Zone. Cancun International Airport is the primary air gateway for a large part of the Mexican Caribbean, including Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres, Costa Mujeres and much of the Riviera Maya. Visitors arriving on these new services can continue onward to resorts, beaches, archaeological sites and communities throughout Quintana Roo.

With more routes operating during the winter season, knowing your terminal and planning your airport arrival can make the first part of the trip easier. Cancun International Airport has multiple passenger terminals, and airlines may operate from different terminals depending on the carrier and flight.

Cancun continues to broaden its air network
The winter announcement follows continued expansion in Cancun’s flight network during 2026. Earlier in the year, the airport prepared for 17 new flights and connections for summer 2026, illustrating how airlines continue to add and adjust service to the Mexican Caribbean throughout the year.
The new and returning winter routes show the diversity of that network. Cancun is gaining service from smaller and mid-sized North American markets while maintaining strong links with major Canadian cities and expanding connections within Mexico.
